Who knew this vacation rental venue in Ronald, Wash. would be such a beautiful wedding location!! Pat and Laura had such gorgeous homemade, unique decor and style for this wedding, I feel so fortunate to have been there on their big day! I've known Pat and Laura for many years, they were present when my husband proposed to me, and to be there to capture their wedding was truly amazing. Laura's planning and details were so unique and perfectly matched to the pictures and vision she had described to me on the first wedding planning meeting last winter. Congrats Pat and Laura!!

Loving this rustic country wedding! Taking place at the couple's property in Cle Elum, Washington, the groom used his mad construction skills and built a rustic saloon, pictured above. The ceremony took place in a meadow surrounded by evergreens and the gorgeous filtered light made the whole evening seem warm and enchanting......LOTS OF BARN WOOD DETAILS, wonderful food and a fun group of guests made this wedding such a treat. I absolutely loved the light at this maternity session last week. We shot in the early morning and couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Something I really love about this wedding was the classic and personal details Tricia spent so much time on. For example, Tricia had a seating chart coordinated with each table representing a place her and Brad had gone, showing a picture of them at the indicated location. The centerpieces were candles and a tree round with their initials and wedding date carved in them. So incredibly cute and thoughtful......

Brad and Tricia served their guests an assortment of appetizers and lots of sweets. Numerous cakes, chocolates, candies, and even a table full of favorite cookies of the bride and family. Every detail looked unique and homemade. The venue, Fontaine Estates Winery, was a perfect fit for this couple. A gorgeous expansive view of the orchards and valley below. Wood floors and giant Barn doors they opened during the reception. This was definitely one of my favorite venues, so antique and classic, looooved this place!

Here are a few shots from Ross James Photography workshop I attended last weekend. What an amazing experience, I left totally syked about off camera lighting, studio lighting, and new posing ideas. Ross and Melissa were such gracious teachers and so easy to be around.

Remember the monsoon rain last weekend?? Well this was right before that on a beautiful Saturday morning with the Clark Family. We both brought our umbrellas even though we hardly needed them, what a gorgeous perfect morning to shoot. Warm temp, overcast skies and one happy little boy. Had a blast Clarks, thanks for all the smiles!!

DIY Camera Bag

So excited about my brand new camera bag, looks like a purse, fully padded to house my nearest and dearest possessions for only about 40 bucks!! I found the purse at TJ Maxx and made sure to find one with good construction, strong handles, and a detachable shoulder strap....

Then....I found these two laptop bags at Goodwill for a few bucks a piece and stole all the padding from each....

Then, I snipped the bottom of the outside pocket to stuff the padding between the outer layer and inside liner of the purse..

Then I stuffed the padding to line the bottom and each side of the purse....

I also gathered all the mismatched pieces of camera bag padding and organized the inside of the camera bag. Then using Velcro pieces I organized the inside of the bag to hold one camera body, two lenses, one flash, and memory card wallets. The bag will fit two camera bodies if needed, but I wanted the extra space for lenses.....

You'll have to excuse my messy amateur sewing job here, hopefully no one will look at the inside of the pocket and see how crooked my hem is here......

And viola, camera bag that looks like a purse for under 40 bucks! I have already used it and love the design and comfort of the bag. Way fun!! Enjoy!

Yes, his name is a number, but lacking personality he is not. As the newest member of the herd, he is the lowest on the totem pole, snubbed by the other horses, making him super friendly to his human friends. In fact, he was extremely hard to shoot as he kept following me around. As much as I love my prime nifty fifty lens, you have to use your feet to zoom in and out, so I was trying to get some distance.....he didn't want that, he wanted some lovin......so I gave it to him......

My mom decided she wanted to find a few more western prints for her bedroom, so I went through my old archives and came across this gem. The handsome longhorn above, Rosco, was my parents lead steer years ago. They get a new crop of yearlings in every year and Rosco the veteran shows them where to go throughout the pastures. Sometimes he went the right way...............sometimes he didn't. He set the standard pretty high, his replacement hasn't quite lived up to the name just yet.......

Had so much fun at Baby Ashley's Newborn Session. What a darling happy little girl. I always try to bring a few props to baby sessions, but I love when parents have baskets and decor elements already in their homes to use. Ashley, born 9 pounds 3 ounces, was a little big for the props I brought, luckily Michelle had this gorgeous wire rimmed basket we used in this shot. She even looked pretty comfortable in it.........Congratulations Kelly and Michelle!

I'll never forget my first meeting with Tricia, bless her heart, drove all the way from Sunnyside on a weeknight in the winter to talk about wedding plans. We instantly clicked and started gushing about their wedding details, WSU, and living in older houses.

I'll admit I can pretty much talk to anyone about anything and hopefully you can follow my sometimes random pathways of conversation......However, I always know when I've met my "kind of people" when I can talk about bathroom cleaners and spill about my crazy Monica-isms without judgment. Yes, I have to admit I am a bit of a Monica (Friends character a little obsessed about cleaning and organizing). I spilled a secret to Tricia I will now share with you......Drywall Sandpaper.

My mom bragged about this amazing and cheap bathroom scrubbing tool and I had to pass it on. You can find it at the hardware store by the rest of the sandpaper, it looks like screen material, works like a charm when scrubbing your shower walls. I'm telling you folks, you won't believe it until you try it......

Anyway.....loved my engagements with Brad and Tricia and can't wait for their wedding.

Lately I've been really thinking about where I am in my photography and where I want to be........taking new challenges......overcoming obstacles...and making it to the other side still loving every bit of it.

I really want to put out a special thanks today for the photography professionals that have really helped me to make it where I am.

Terry Firman at Gordon Macdonald's Photo. For helping me edit my first photos and inspiring me to take it to the next step. Plus, his amazing staff for helping me and my clients have the best possible prints.

Caron Van Orman, Linda Hamilton and Kandice Halferty for taking the time to meet with me and pick their brains about starting out a photography business.

Rick Spencer for collaborating with me on different projects and photographing my wedding. Pictures were wonderful and it couldn't have been easy.

Most importantly, my first photography clients that took a chance on a rookie and let me gain the experience and knowledge I have today. I still wince at some the poses and post processing in my first sessions, thanks for all your patience and support.

I still have a lot to learn and look forward to every lesson and learning experience I can take in my photography journey.....
